Freebies on Main Street

Low-profile Kenny Schnabel is quietly doing his part to help those who've felt the pinch of the economy and had to forgo the sinful pleasures of their favorite designer ice cream.

This coming Tuesday, April 21st, Kenny's Main Street Sweets is observing the 30th annual Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day!

Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road

It's an opportunity to swing into Spring with an old favorite or one of their newer items such as Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road, actually introduced last July as a one-week "limited edition" but popular enough to break into the regular line-up.

(Only a couple of said-to-be-recovering "hippies" such as Messrs. Cohen and Greenfield could come up with these names!)

Other new-for-'09 flavors are Chocolate Macadamia and Orange & Cream, and Schnabel, with the backing of the Vermont-based ice cream giant, is handing out free Ben & Jerry's cones from Noon 'til 8:00 pm.

Make mine Phish Food.

Kenny has a observed Ben and Jerry's Free Ice Cream Cone days long before we suffered this "recession." He's a man ahead of his time and a fine gentleman as well.

Hey Dean....

You are worried about freebies on Main Street. - and I have to find out that your good friend is running for the board in WHB. What the h---?!?

First you shop at Waldbaum's instead of getting the good stuff at Dean's.

Next time you want burgers are you going to McD's??

I thought I saw you lurking around the new Stop and Shop - it doesn't open til Friday!

Let's get ready to rumble with the election - and then the Rabbi will return.

Do we know where your friend and others running stand on the eruv? It wouldn't matter to me, but it is a valid question....

See you in Hockeytown.

JAY-sus! Where to start?

I don't ever "worry" about "freebies on Main Street," numbe one, and, number 2, who is running for the Village Board?

I rarely shop at Waldbaum's! I've spent more at Dean's Country Market over the past year than I have on Sunset Avenue!

I love Stop 'n' Shop! They have stuff I can't get anywhere else. I can't wait 'til they open in The Bays!

What election?

Hockeytown indeed! The Detroits have been playing like the Islanders for the past months... aside from the game where the Isles shut them out on their own ice!
