Don Noonan (1935-2008)

Updated 12/08/2008 11:38 am

Over the past 30+ years, he was a client of my office, my attorney, a close personal friend, a mentor and a sailing partner in the classic MB#4 presented to him by Walter Kidde.

(And if I could ever have taught Don how to tie a good bowline, MB#4 would likely still be afloat today.)

Don passed away last night in Stony Brook University Hospital Medical Center, following a series of brain hemorrhages.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Phyllis, three children, Donald Jr., Tara, and Sean, their spouses, and eight grandchildren, and four sisters: Kathleen Roskell, Mary Fritz, Sheila Meindl and Eileen Downey. He was pre-deceased by his brothers William and James.

The family will be receiving at Follett&Werner, Tuesday 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm, with a funeral mass at Immaculate Conception, 10:00 am Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Immaculate Conception's Community Outreach Program.

I'm so sorry Dean for this sad news. I know you two were fast friends and this is a great loss for you. I am sad for his widow as well.

Thank you, Tuggy... Phyllis is an absolute brick, a truly remarkable woman! Their three children, Donald Jr., Tara and Sean, are with their mother.

Kevin and I will miss him. We think about him all the time. His name comes up once a week. What a great guy!
