UH OH!

This is not the type of news I wanted to hear on a Good Friday... or any day, truth be told!

‘True Detective’ Drama: ‘Green Room’ Director Exits After 2 Episodes

The HBO show caught me (and the rest of the TV-viewing world) by complete surprise back in 2014 and received excellent critical notices, especially right here!

Headlined by Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson and Michelle Monaghan, the eight episode first season was written by a virtually unknown Nic Pizzolatto, and left me clamoring for more.

And there was more, and while I didn't hate it, Season Two was a major disappointment despite its more "name-laden" cast.

It was so poorly received, there was a sense that Pizzolatto might have been a one-shot wunderkind who's shot his bolt with that sublime first season.

But the writer took a break, published a novel, and went to work on an ambitious third season for HBO.

While I haven't been in the same fevered anticipation I was in leading up to Season Two, I'm saddened that this latest news bodes ill for the series' future.
