Anthony DePalma is a tool of...

...the dishonest Democratic apparat, as he so plainly demonstrates on the Letters page [A9] of today's Southampton Press Western Edition.

Under the caption "Endangers Us," DePalma spends three (mercifully) short paragraphs babbling about a non-issue he neither understands nor is enough informed about to even identify by name, H.R.38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017.

"This bill amends the federal criminal code to allow a qualified individual to carry a concealed handgun into or possess a concealed handgun in another state that allows individuals to carry concealed firearms."

This not what DePalma would have one believe, however, writing:

"No one wishes to have outof-towners prowling around our communities with semi-automatic pistols tucked into their waistbands."

DePalma is not artful enough to craft language suitable to his objective... "prowling?" O ho!

But further reading reveals his true target:

"But U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin recently voted 'yes' to allow just that."

Ah, there... that's a good little Democratic operative, Anthony.

But two notes on this matter:

  1. While passage of this law would alleviate some of the more Draconian aspects of handgun laws in states like New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and California which criminalize non-criminal behavior of ordinary law-abiding citizens, I don't see a bright future for H.R.38/S.446.
  2. DePalma's true objective is to dirty up Republican Representative Zeldin, something I predict we'll be seeing more of over the next six-seven months while the Democrats see if Suffolk County Legislator Bridget Fleming is really ready to make a run at Zeldin's seat.

The Dems needn't waste their efforts... Zeldin seems to be self-destructing at every turn.

A final observation, as DePalma writes:

"Mr. Zeldin has stripped us of our right to protect our community in a manner we see fit...."

Really, Anthony? How are you constructively going to protect your community of Hampton Bays?

While you're scrambling with that one, here's a suggestion: next time do your homework and skip the fatuous blather!
