Here's a face and a name...

...I hadn't seen in over 50 years, since we were young men in Westhampton Beach, Tommy, elder son of Helen Elfmont for whom I worked when she and her partner ran The Busybodies out of what is now Country Heroes.

This "reintroduction" occured during Friday's ABC telecast of a compelling documentary "Let It Fall: Los Angeles 1982-1992," the eve of the 25th Anniversary of the riots following the acquittal of four LAPD officers charged with excessive force in the arrest of Rodney King.

Tom, a retired LAPD Captain not directly involved with the King case, was there in 1992, and is a straight forward and articulate observer of those events without being an apologist or critic of those involved.

(The last time I saw Tom was in a "bit part" in Michael Mann's superb "Heat" in 1995.)

The doumentary, interesting, affecting and provoking, can be seen on-line at ABC.go. It's a worthwhile watch.
