Nothing much surprises me anymore...

...but this certain did:

Fired Mizzou professor Melissa Click hired at Gonzaga University

Video footage of Melissa Click

"She achieved national attention after video footage of her assaulting a student journalist went viral. Later, video emerged of her yelling profanities at a police officer."

I don't know much about the university aside from the fact that it is regularly invited to the NCAA Tournament where it is invariably described as "tiny Gonzaga."

"Click was fired from her position as an assistant professor of communications in February, and her appeal of the decision was denied in March."

Click subsequenly charged that her dismissal from the University of Missouri faculty staff was racially motivated, and also blamed "conservative voices."

"I’m a white lady. I’m an easy target."

In point of fact it was Click herself who made herself the "target," #1, and, #2, she may be caucasian, but clearly she's no "lady," witness her profane tirade against a campus policeman.

Click also tried to explain her confrontation with the student journalist because "she thought he had a gun," which in no way jibes with her calling for "muscle" to help her physically remove the young man.

(Click later told investigators she 'never believed' Schierbecker had a gun, just that 'he could have,' to explain her action.)

Still, Spokane, Washington's celebrated institution of higher learning's actions are curious despite Gonzaga College of Arts and Science Dean Elisabeth Mermann-Jozwiak's written statement:

"Gonzaga officials knew of Click's recent history and were confident in welcoming her to the university."

We shall see what evolves during her "one-year, non-tenure track position as a lecturer."
