Why is there such a thing as...

...a "jihadi neighborhood" in a city like Brussels, capital of the Western European country of Belgium, a constitutional monarchy cum federal parliamentary democracy?

How Paris attacks prime suspect gave investigators a slip for so long

"Bilal Benyaich, a Brussels security expert, described Molenbeek last November as a 'pitstop' for radicals, and a 'place where you can disappear;' Belgian conservative politician George Dallemagne called it an 'airbase for jihadists,' a place from where they could arm and attack places like Paris at will."

The municipality of Molenbeek has approximately 95,000 inhabitants, nearly 40% of whom are Muslims primarily of Moroccan descent.

Salah Abdeslam

It is known to be an area of concern and on numerous terrorism watchlists, so why have authorities shied away from establishing a more proactive presence there?

Disturbing likeness...

...between the just captured Salah Abdeslam, believed to be the final Paris Terror suspect, and chef John Tesar.
