What did we learn this season?

If'n you don't watch "Inside the NFL" on Showtime or the NFL Network (cable channel 218), then this entry's headline probably won't resonate.

I love the show for its top notch multi-camera footage from NFL Films, but I've also become interested in the personalities who host the hour-long series which is cablecast from week one of the regular football season until the week following the Super Bowl.

That's this week for those without a scorecard.

Each program, traditionally, begins with the host... in prior years it was Bryant Gumbel's big brother Greg and James Brown... asking each of the co-hosts, Phil Simms, Boomer Esiason and current New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall, the question:

Adam Schein

"What did we learn this week?"

The person asking that question throughout the season concluding this week, was Adam Schein whose curriculum vitae includes five years at WFAN and another nine at cable SNY co-anchoring with Chris Carlin the perfectly named "Loud Mouths."

It's a mystery why Schein was hired for a show with national, if not international, exposure... he's a New York City kid and comes across as w-a-a-a-y too ethnic for the other side of the Hudson River... and he acts as if he's still sitting across from Carlin 'cause he's still shouting!

We can revisit this come September, but I suspect that Schein's role on "Inside the NFL," will be one and done.
