Not to blow smoke...

...up my own fundamental orifice, but Wednesday's OtBB entry closed with:

"Iowa may supplant Florida and its "hanging chad" fiasco as a national joke...."

Yesterday's lead editorial in the Des Moines Register opened with:

"Once again the world is laughing at Iowa. Late-night comedians and social media mavens are having a field day with jokes about missing caucusgoers and coin flips."

I don't know what prior events induced global hilarity, but Iowa from its first-in-the-nation primary process to its ethanol subsidies needs to get its act together.

I knew a man by the name of Dean Speir that was a "mild mannered knife salesman" back in the '60s.

I think I remember that guy... graduated to being a cranky, strong-opinioned writer in the new Millennium... who still uses the same cutlery 50 years later.

That's when we first met. You visited and charmed us and after than for a long time you were referred to as "The cutlery salesman." Later you became rescuer, confidante, hero and dear friend.

Madam has, I fear, become soft in the skull... but thank you, #1, and, #2, know that there is reciprocity across the board.
