NBC (again) in the tank...

...for the Democratic Party, as evidenced with this morning's "Meet The Press."

Just before the hour-long program concluded, host Andrea Mitchell segued into a brief segment of video clips featuring "a few funny things that happened along the campaign trail:"

  • Ten seconds, first in real time then slow motion, of Senator Marco Rubio softly tossing a football to a young boy whose receiving skills were such that it hit him in the head, causing him to fall down. (CNN, whose politics have never been a mystery, had their own fun with the video last August, even including clips of comedians Conan O'Brien and Seth Meyers using it for gag lines.)

The lad wasn't hurt, #1, and, #2, it had nothing to do with Rubio and everything to do with the kid's lack of coordination!
  • Another brief clip of Donald Trump in an awkward encounter with an American Eagle from an attempt at a photo shoot for a Time Magazine cover last August.

Surprisingly, not The Donald's idea, but that of the Time photographer. It doesn't take much to make Trump appear ridiculous, yet NBC went out of its way to do so.
  • A longer clip of Larry David as Bernie Sanders on "Saturday Night Live" spritzing about "one pair of clean underwear," with Sanders himself on the campaign trail playing off of David's riff.

This was followed by Mitchell's moronic statement asserting that she can't tell the difference between Sanders and David, then Yahoo! News' Matt Bai saying that he thought that the SNL skit did a great deal in humanizing Sanders.

Mitchell closed by rationalizing the Rubio and Trump clips as showing what can go wrong on the campaign trail.

I wasn't convinced.
