B.B. King (1925-2015)

Probably the best known of the blues guitarists of the past seven decades B.B. King died yesterday, age 89 in Las Vegas Nevada after a lengthy illness.

Born Riley B. King in cotton-rich Itta Bena, Mississippi, he was known as "Blues Boy," later shortened to simply initials, as he began playing professionally in the late '40s.

I was a Muddy Waters guy myself, but no one can gainsay the extraordinary impact B.B. King and his Gibson guitars, all named "Lucille," have had in the realms of blues and rock 'n' roll during his global career.

Believe it or not one of my favorites... RIP, Mr. Waters.

Good! He was terrific! All those Chess and Checker guys were, particularly the early ones: Muddy, Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Guy... the list goes on.
