Movie Alert

It wasn't all that long ago that our friends at the New Moon Café had rented out their East Quogue eatery for several days to a movie company, and that Nicole Kidman, Jack Black and the wonderful Jennifer Jason Leigh were the leads.

(Other East End filming locations include Greenport, Hampton Bays, Shelter Island and Southampton.)

The production was released late last year under the title of Margot at the Wedding and performed underwhelmingly at both the box office and with the critics, pretty much nullifying any opportunities of a decent roll-out East of the FDR Drive or West of the Hudson.

But that's why we have places out here like Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center and the Sag Harbor Cinema!

And, Callooh! Callay!, Margot at the Wedding is showing this weekend at PAC!

(In a screw-up of perception... "Always challenge your own perceptions!" I like to say but don't do often enough... Mrs. S. and I braved the elements and went last weekend to PAC to see this, and wound up watching the softer and decidedly more carnal side of the Academy Award-nominated Javier Bardem in Love in the Time of Cholera. Happily, it wasn't a wasted effort, even if it wasn't what we wanted to see.)

This weekend we'll get it right!
