So I said...

...last week for the third consecutive monthly Village meeting, "Can there be light?"

And the Mayor deferred to the Superintendent of Public Works John Kearns who responded, "We have the replacement on order."

Friday morning the house canines alerted us to activity in the front yard, and it wasn't just another dog walking by, it was municipal street lighting specialist, Paul Rima, aloft in the bucket, fiddling with the utility pole.

I couldn't wait 'til darkness fell on East Main Street.

The new street lamp on East Main

And now we have light! It is good!

No more cursing of the darkness... or the DPW.

It's a miracle!

That was fast work by the Village.

Let's see... October 28th to March 15th: 136 days, or 19+ weeks. I'd've though they might've had a couple of spare lamps stashed away in reserve. But hey!, when they got the part and tracked down Mr. Rima, we're illuminated once more.

There is a light across the street from me on McCord Street that has been on 24// for at least the past 10 years! No joke - don't make'em like they used to.

I'll bet it's been on since Beanie Brown was on his rampage.

Call the Town Highway Department and pitch a gripe to Alex Gregor. Demand action! [heh heh]
