Dinner and two ball games

Had a so-so dinner at Mahogany's in Speonk, surrounded by probably a dozen big-screen TV sets, most of which were tuned to one of two NBA games this evening.

My interest was in the contest from Toronto's Air Canada Centre where the Raptors hosted the Knicks who, after a brilliant start to the season, have been playing like the Washington Generals for the past ten weeks.

While I watched the Knicks stink up the place and lose their fourth straight, Jeanne was intent on the adjoining screen, the Houstons at the Brooklyns and paying special attention to her favorite player.

As I muttered subdued... we were, after all, in a dining establishment... displeasure at the way the Knicks were performing in the third quarter, Jeanne came up with the answer.

"Jeremy Lin," she pronounced. "The Knicks should bring back Jeremy Lin!"

Right now, the Knicks could bring back Richie Guerin, Walt Frazier and Bernard King, and it's questionable whether that trio of greats could help!

Hey, I liked my dinner.

Lin may not be the best player on the court, but he has the chemistry to get his fellow alphas into a formidable force.

  1. You made a better choice from the menu... my two-cheeses burger was singularly uninspired. Now I know.
  2. We shall see....

You have to give a bigger shout out to Mr. Guerin than that! He was just nominated for the basketball Hall of Fame. Not many Westhampton Beach residents have achieved that level of success.

No I don't (he lives in Florida most of the year), #1, and, #2, I actually saw #9 play for the Knicks alongside guys like Willie Naulls, Kenny Sears and Carl Braum.
