O the irony!

Christmas on Main Street in mid-September

Rosh Hashanah began in the evening of Sunday, September 16, and ends this evening, Tuesday, September 18.

Why is this evening different from all other evenings?

Because while Rosh Hashanah may be ending, several areas of Westhampton Beach's Main Street are already fully "dressed" for the Christmas holidays!

The Performing Arts Center has gotten a full facade make-over as well, and offers a provocative hint of what's to come on an upcoming episode of "Royal Pains."

The theater building is dressed to suggest that the episode contains some sort of flashback to 1940, advertising by both marquee and period-authentic posters the beloved romantic comedy "The Shop Around the Corner."

(An aesthetic note: the movie was released in late January 1940 and wouldn't likely be playing during any Christmas holidays.)

The episode won't be cablecast anytime soon as the fourth season finale will be tomorrow evening.

And here everyone thought the "next big thing" on Main Street was to be Fall Sidewalk Sale!
