New 'playa' for the Eruv applicants
The East End Eruv Association seem to have suffered enough of the gum-flapping and foolish posturing of Marvin Tenzer and engaged the services of high profile Democratic consultant Hank Sheinkopf.
The principal of Sheinkopf Communications lists among his clients past and present Bill Clinton and Eliot Spitzer, and has been a registered lobbyist for numerous unions (Teamsters Local 237, various AFSCME chapters) plus corporate entities like the New York Yankees, Verizon and Bear Stearns & Co.1
He is, in short, "a playa."
And, can there be no more perfect individual for the job, Sheinkopf is also... wait for it, as Radar O'Reilly used to say... a Rabbi.
Upon reflection, it's a safe bet that had Clint Greenbaum and the eruvians called upon Sheinkopf four years ago, there would have been little controversy about the establishment of an eruv in Westhampton Beach, and it would have been a fait accompli before Irene Barrett and Arnie Sheifer even knew what had happened.
Now Sheinkopf has to overcome the damage done by Rabbi Marc Schneier's ego and Joel Cohan's horrendous miscalculation about his presentation before those who attended the August 2008 "Informational Meeting" at Hampton Synagogue.
Mazel tov, Hank.
