The Big Wash-out!

This evening's weather wouldn't have caused a delay in the "Spun-Sugar" softball league, yet it occasioned the postponement of the annual Westhampton Country Club fireworks display as well as the Concert for Steve and John across Potunk Lane on the Great Lawn.

Other events were set back 22-24 hours.

But given the equivocal if not ominous forecasts for the Fourth, and an actual downpour hits us late in the day, then what?

I don't predict weather, but if tomorrow has to be scrubbed as well, those who played it safe on Sunday, are going to kick themselves!

Well. All I can say is we stayed home Monday evening to keep Gracie, the Thunder and Fireworks phobic puppy company. As I admired the show from home, I heard a rousing rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" sung by a lusty-voiced group of mostly all guys who knew all the words and held the high note ("La-and of the Freeeeeeee!!") like they just stepped off the stage at La Scala.

Dudes. That was beautiful. Bravo.

Do they really sing our National Anthem at La Scala?

[sigh]

No, I doubt they sing the Star Spangled Banner at La Scala, but they could call it the Star Mangled Manner with how many times our national singers flub the lines here in the USA.

I was addressing the singers, and boy, they sure could sing. I was addressing the quality of the voices, Dean, not the music selection.

Yes, dear.
