They're rockin' in Cleveland...

...because they have the big bucks Knicks' number.

Despite 41 points from Amar'e Stoudemire and 29 from "all-O-and-no D" Carmelo Anthony, the New Yorkers dropped their third straight to the Cavaliers in Madison Square Garden this evening.

The Knicks are 3-3 since the biggest trade in National Basketball Association history, while the team which acquired all the Knicks bright young talent, the Denver Nuggets, are 5-1.

Notice there were no more posts after the Knicks 92-79 win over the 5th place Hawks (must have played some defense if Atlanta scored only 79 points) and 131-109 win over the Jazz. Excluding the Cavaliers (where the real story is how they continue to beat New York even without LeBron James), the Knicks are 5-1 since the trade with wins over Milwaukee, Miami, and New Orleans in addition to the other two aforementioned wins. Don't just headline the losses.

[sigh] I've been awaiting this Comment, Ray.

Why would you suggest that the two losses to the Clevelands be excluded? They count in the standings, don't they? The accurate, and more honest statement is that the Knicks are two games over .500 since the biggest trade in the history of the NBA.

Yes, the team's inability to beat Cleveland is a story, but here's another pair you might like to consider:
  1. Anthony's former team... they one which acquired all that Knicks talent... is 5-2 including a one point loss to the Portlands in overtime since the trade.
  2. The Knicks' "must-have" offensive weapon, Carmelo Anthony has shot a combined 73/165 since coming over. That's a mediocre .442 while averaging 35.9 points per game. (Throw out those two "hot" outings where he shot 22/32, and that's 0.357.)
But in truth, I haven't made any Knickerbocker entrys in the past several days since, as you may have noticed, I'm frying other fish at the moment.

New York 110, Memphis 108. Carmelo game winning shot with .5 seconds left. Not sure if you saw it.

I did not see that, Ray... thank you for calling it to my attention.

Will this be a regular update from you as the season winds down?
