Friday night/Date night!

There was an interesting selection to launch the Westhampton Performing Arts Center's Fall film schedule, Ladrón Que Roba A Ladrón, a good way to spend a mid-October evening, especially if one is in possession of a "Film Society" card so the admission price is just $3.00... and, yeah!, I know, the Membership is $60, but it's still a pretty good deal.

And they play trailers, previews of Coming Attractions which attractions are actually coming to PAC. The first weekend in November will likely be packed, with the 2006 French production Lady Chatterley being advertised as "Not Rated – nudity/adult content."

(Whoo-AHHH! A nice change from the little independent films about Chinese lesbians which exemplified the first season of this program.)

Ladrón Que Roba A Ladrón wasn't in the class of classic heist flicks like Jules Dassin's Rififi or Big Deal on Madonna Street, but it shows how inadequate have been the recently updated "Rat Pack" movies, Ocean's 11-12-13 ad nauseam. Fun story, attractive cast, good pacing, absurd ending. Not a wasted 98 minutes by any means.

Afterward we went to The Patio for "a nightcap," and while we rarely ever see anyone we know, the decor is the nicest around, and the music has always been top notch. Last time there was a group of jamming jazzmen, and tonight it was an excellent guitarist/singer doing popular covers from the late '60s, early '70s: James Taylor, Rod Stewart, Simon and Garfunkel, etc.

But $18.00 for a hooker of Mount Gay neat and a glass of cabernet is steep, and now they've started adding NYS Sales Tax to alcoholic beverages at the bar!

The Patio is red-lined 'til further notice.

If you add some fruit, ice and club soda to the Mount Gay it lasts longer. Sort of like taxes - it's not how much per ounce of rum, it's how long you get to drink it.

But… but… I like the taste of the rum, which is why I sip it neat.
