Robert W. Morgan Jr. (1935-2010)

There was no way of knowing that OtBB's birthday bouquet to Bob Morgan in April would be my last message to the man who was such an important part of the lore of our Village.

(Not to mention to the "popularity" of my column in the old Hampton Chronicle-News during the mid-'80s.)

The 15th Mayor of Westhampton Beach passed away yesterday at Roslyn's St. Francis Hospital after an illness of several months.

Visiting is at Follett & Werner, Saturday and Sunday from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm, with services across Mill Road at Beach United Methodist Church 11:00 am Monday.

Interment is to follow at Westhampton Cemetery, and if the funeral procession isn't some sort of parade, I don't think "Hizzoner" would be very pleased.

O, how Bob loved a parade!

We send our deepest sympathy to Gary and agree that there should be an impressive procession to honor Bob Morgan. He was one of a kind and will always be remembered.

Didn't know Bob except for the Mexican Hut - a number of years ago he was doing a prix fixe meal on Saturday nights and we went - the meal was truly an eclectic mix of different fares that matched both the Hut decor and Bob, who was a wonderful and entertaining host that night. Sorry for the loss.

Never had the pleasure of dining there.

Sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I worked for him back in '75-'76 at The Whitecap. He was quite a colorful character. Maybe it's just age catching up with me, but the past seems like it was alot more fun. Godspeed. Bob. Sorry for your loss, Gary.

Welcome to the back nine of life, Rich.

The world and Westhampton Beach lost a dynamic individual in Bob Morgan. I spent many summer days back in the '70s at Morgan's Beach dancing to Super Suds. Bob's presence was always an important part of the experience. He will surely be missed.

I am so sad to learn of Bob's passing. I too worked for The Whitecap (a/k/a "Morgan's") in the early 1980s. I have wonderful memories from those Summers. My condolences to Gary.

Bob and I were friends as teenagers along with my cousin Frank Manning They are both gone and will never be forgotten... I am so sorry. I just learned today after sending him a Christmas card.

We will miss him.
