¡Basta Already!

Hey, I'm as big a sports fan as anyone past the age of 40, and I used to live and breathe the New York Knickerbockers in the days of Reed, Frazier and Snazzy Cazzie Russell.

But this all-LeBron James-Dwyane Wade-Chris Bosh-all-the-time crud is i-n-s-a-n-e!

(Didn't any of these guys have parents who could spell?)

I simply cannot get interested in the current artificial drama of the National Basketball Association's free agency frenzy, much less enthused, any more than I could or can about the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" or the Kardashian sisters.

This afternoon I tuned into Fox 5 to watch the Washingtons and New Yorks to see how well the Mets were doing against the Nationals 22-year-old wunderkind Stephen Strasburg.

With the score tied 2-2 in the seventh inning, the Fox broadcasters were prattling on about where LeBron would wind up, and not even bothering to call the game!

It's not even the same freakin' sport!

Meanwhile, the Gulf oil spill is closing in on the Florida Keys, Apple is sucking it up and admitting its iPhone has problems, Melissa Etheridge is formally splitting with her domestic partner of nine years, and a fisherman was bitten on the arm while trying to retrieve the hook from a blue shark he caught off Shinnecock.

(Cheering for the shark!)

In other important news, the Knicks seem to have locked up Amar'e Stoudemire, and that trumps everything else!

Then you'll be thrilled to know that Cable Bravo is showing a "Real Housewives of New Jersey" nine hour marathon tomorrow afternoon!

How would you even know something like that?
