Quotes and Notes

Updated 06/18/2010 – 05:12 pm

As today's Village Elections continue... the polls opened at Noon in the municipal meeting room at Six Corners... some news from the Police Department.

Item: Interviewed personally by Police Chief Ray Dean due to her position within the municipality, Trustee Joan Levan was apprised of the "Incident Information" report in which she is named as having trespassed on private property Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Levan denied the allegation and asserted that it wasn't her.

When informed that she had been identified by an eye witness, she faltered for a moment before reasserting that she had no knowledge of the incident.

No information has been obtained as to whether a line-up of "elderly females with blond and gray hair wearing glasses, a green shirt and white pants" is planned.

The update part...

27East.com is reporting...

"When reached Friday morning, Ms. Levan said: 'I have no comment.'"

The last sitting Village Board member to take that approach was now-lame duck Trustee Jim Kametler when confronted about his shooting confrontation with an opossum.

(In an excited utterance at the end of the April 2010 Village Board meeting, Kametler insisted: "I only fired three shots!")

Between the police interview and The Press' call, Mrs. Levan may have remembered the primary lesson of the Watergate scandal: it's the lying that did them in!

Item: S.J. Perleman through Groucho Marx...

"I didn't do it. I didn't do it. And if I had it to do all over again, I still didn't do it."

Item:And for those of a nostalgic bent, this will be the final appearance of the familiar green voting machine... the one with the little "levers."

Come September... if there are any primaries to be run... voters will cast their ballots on the new (black) tabulator machines.

Item: From an OtBB irregular looking at Hank Tucker's campaign hand-out...

Tucker campaign photo
"Haven't seen that much eye-liner since my last Alice Cooper concert."

I suspect that is an Adobe PhotoShop effort, and that Mayoral-wannabe Hank Tucker does not wear that much Maybelline or Lancome in real life.

It is being suggested that a police lineup occur with the child in question - but her father will have to step up to the plate and pursue this. It seems a serious enough issue that it shouldn't just be dropped.

And respecting the election process - Carol Matthews should stop helping people to write in votes, its just wrong, wrong, wrong. Also, if anyone sees people who are doing anything other then waiting on line to vote, tell a poll-watcher or the Village Clerk.

If you observed Mrs. Matthews doing this, you should have notified Board of Elections Coordinator Bonnie Brophie on the spot.

As for the line-up matter, Mrs. Levan may force the issue herself with her denial and then her "No comment."

Joan's word against a 12 year old -- who'd you believe?

That's unkind.

Particularly since there is an abundance of genuine material available to mock.

Who are these people!?!

They're the ones a sizable number of second home-owners are voting for today!
