The Nagging Question

"What did he know and when did he know it?" is a phrase that was in vogue during the National nightmare known as "Watergate."

In the wake of the startling dismissal of 20-year veteran "Today" host Matt Lauer by NBC in the wake of a formal complaint of "inappropriate sexual behavior" lodged against him by a female employee, a variation of that question becomes relevant.

"What did they know, and when did they know it?"

The initial story was that the female staffer and her More...

I may, in fact, vomit!

Last week OtBB wrote about the Most pathetic Tweet yet!, and this afternoon, while watching the New York Jets trying (futilely, of course) to beat the Carolina Panthers, I heard the most revolting sound byte ever captured by a sideline parabolic microphone!

Robby Anderson

(And the NFL wonders why ratings are down and they're losing sponsors!)

A Jets receiver, #11, Robby Anderson, was having a pretty decent game, scoring two touchdowns, the second one putting his team up 17-13, then performing a pantomine celebration in the end zone by using the football as a pillow upon which to rest his head as he lay down to feign taking a nap. One thing we know about...

LaVar Ball

...LeVar Ball is that he has an ego the size of Asia and a mouth which just may be the world's first perpetual motion machine.

And now he and Donald Trump have discovered one another on Twitter, the wonderful thing is that no one other than the increasingly irrelevant media has to pay attention to either of them.

(North Korea's gotta be breathing a huge sigh of relief for this distraction.) More...

Most pathetic Tweet yet!

It doesn't get worse than this... or we hope it doesn't!

"Do you think the three UCLA Basketball Players will say thank you President Trump? They were headed for 10 years in jail!"

Jeanne and I discussed this, and concluded, his protestations on the campaign trail to the contrary, that Donald J. Trump fears that he has an under-sized penis.

This makes no sense at all!

DA To Retry Guldi On Felony Larceny And Insurance Fraud Charges

"The decision to re-try the now-disbarred attorney was somewhat unexpected, as Mr. Guldi had already served more than six years of a four-to-12-year sentence at an upstate prison prior to being released on his own recognizance this July when a state appellate court threw out his conviction on a technicality."

Yeah, what the 27East report said! More...

It's a (modest) start!

At first glance of the following headline on 27East, a common response would be, "'Bout damn'd time!"

ICE Agents Apprehend Individuals In Sag Harbor And Hampton Bays During Islandwide Sting

"Officers targeted undocumented individuals who had been convicted of aggravated DWI, second-degree assault, second-degree criminal trespassing, driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired."

While none of the charges rise to the level of those leveled against MS-13 members, it's an action that was not on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's agenda ever since Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone signaled his softness on immigration. More...

Salvation at Six Corners

Long-timers may recall that after Susan Puma anagrammed Ron & Ruth Rawson's Hampton Star Theater into the Hampton Arts Cinema in the late '50s, as an independent exhibitor in the land of the Prudential chain of movie houses, product availability was limited.

They kept the doors open in the Summer season with "art films" like "Elvira Madigan," "Romeo and Julliet" and "Putney Swope," and the rest of the year, drawing on the sizeable concentrated population at the air base, with soft-core (R and X-rated) double features. More...

Screwed by 'The Machine!'

OtBB's oft-utilized phrase "once reliably Republican" now extends w-a-a-a-y past Southampton to all of Suffolk County where voters, undeterred by revelations of corruption and indictments in the upper reaches of the District Attorney's office, elected dynamic young federal prosecutor-turned-Police Commissioner Tim Sini as the new D.A. come January.

It is not unreasonably assumed that Sini views this office as a "stepping stone," and that County Executive Steve Ballone better start looking over his shoulder while Congressman Lee Zeldin is praying Sini doesn't move his home 25 miles East. More...

Choices At The Polls: 2017 Edition

What a weird run-up to tomorrow's elections with the, not just the fall-from-grace but criminal indictment of four-term incumbent Suffolk County District Attorney Tom Spota, to the uncommon flurry of glossy mailing pieces from the New York State Democratic Committee supporting their Suffolk County Candidates, and mostly uninspired postcards with negative messages about both sides in Southampton Town.

(The one with Julie Lofstad as a marionette is visually striking 'though the message is boilerplater GOP without specifics.) More...

The Kevin Spacey Conundrum

When it rains, it pours, and the diluge that began with mega-movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and continued with the powerful and famous as disparate as director Bret Ratner, Hollywood hyphenate James Toback and even George Herbert Walker Bush, has now swamped two-time Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Spacey.

Ye Gawds and little (and huge) indiscretions, will it never end?

Probably not! More...

Definitely time for a new District Attorney

Never mind the convoluted "Suffolk County DA Thomas Spota Indicted In 2012 Police Brutality Cover-up" story that finally led to the sudden end of a 16-year career as the county's top prosecutor, here's something a bit more straight forward and much closer to home.
