And this rates an award?

This caught my attention on 27East:

East End Cops Honored; East Hampton Detective Makes History

Curious about what constitues a history-making event, and which local officer was rewarded and for what, I read on.

Odd as it seems, it was a gender-based "first;" East More...

Talk about your fuzzy-headed Liberals!

Menachem Z. Rosensaft

This popped up on HuffPo this morning, authored by one Menachem Z. Rosensaft, a New York City lawyer and Founding Chairman of the International Network of Children of Jewish Holocaust Survivors.

Entitled "Memo to Gun Rights Advocates: Take Note of What Reagan and Scalia Had to Say," the most stunning passage read:

"...I have a very personal bias against guns. In More...

STFU, Revis!

With reports that New York Jets owner Woodie Johnson would like his new General Manager John Idzik "to explore trading Darrelle Revis," the star cornerback took to Twitter:

"I'm speechless by far but more importantly I feel more upset for the jet nation for having to go through this!!!"

Really, Darrelle? Really? More...

At last, some action

On April 30, 2009, OtBB asked "What's ahead for Jim Hulme now that Judge Melvyn Tannenbaum has published his decision in the East End Ready Mix case?"

The part of the Tannenbaum decision which occasioned that inquiry read:

"...credible evidence established during the hearing revealed that defendant Josephine Carnevale, together with her then attorney, James N. Hulme, Esquire, took part in filing in the Suffolk County Clerk's Office deeds misrepresenting the description of the premises by More...

Bacon, far-from-crisp and poorly served

On September 4th, 2013, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick will experience a rarity for a married "Hollywood couple," their silver wedding anniversary.

The husband, who broke into movies with a supporting role in 1978's seminal "National Lampoon's Animal House," but until this evening with "The Following," had never done a television series. More...

Run-up to Super Sunday

What an interesting afternoon and evening of professional football this day, with the visiting San Franciso 49ers and Baltimore Ravens, both losing at half-time but each holding, respectively, the home team Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots scoreless in the second half to win the National and America conference titles.

The 49ers were four point favorites, but Baltimore... which actually seemed to have an easier time of it... was a 7½ underdog. More...

When I see...

...a photo like this:

An insufferably smug Joe Biden

...it makes me want to head for Washington with a cream-filled pie!

Man looks like a skinny Benito Mussolini with hair plugs.

This should not, of course, be construed as a threat against the Executive.

All anyone has to know...

...about actor, political activist and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voting member David Clennon's call for an Oscar boycott of director Kathryn Bigelow's "Zero Dark Thirty" over its depiction of torture by the CIA in its hunt for the admitted architect behind the 11 September 2001 attacks, is who were the first to support him.

Actors Martin Sheen and Ed Asner, an ex-president of the Screen Actor's Guild, quickly jumped on Clennon's little red wagon... can Ed Begley Jr. and James Cromwell be far behind?

The film is currently screening at the Hampton Arts... Jeanne and I saw it Saturday and recommend it highly.

Blood in the waters off of...

Updated 01/15/2013 – 11:32 am

...the 50th State, but that's a foreseen consequence of "jumping the shark."

There's no other way to describe what network CBS pulled with tonight's episode of "Hawaii Five-0" which urged viewers to go to the Website and vote on which of three suspects would be revealed as the "bad guy."

Has there ever been a cheesier gimmick on a major network? It reeks of desperation for a ratings-starved More...

Down the toilet...

...with $7,000 of Westhampton Beach taxpayer money, and possibly as much as $12,000, and thank you Village Board members Hank Tucker, Patricia DiBenedetto and Junior Palmer.

But then this isn't news to anyone who pays attention to what that trio of knuckleheads has been up to over the past four months.

Fortunately Southampton Press Western Edition Editor Frank Costanza has very coolly depantsed them More...

Well, that lowered the tone of...

...cable Showtime's "This Week in the NFL." I mean, Michelle Beadle? Really?

I do not "get" this woman, and never have! Not when she was at cable YES, or when she co-hosted ESPN2's ridiculous "SportsNation," and certainly not when she was a featured guest on this evening's Showtime series. More...

Foul!

Katherine Webb in the stands of the BCS title game last night

The gal at the right, Miss Alabama 2012, pulled a lot of exposure during Notre Dame's trouncing at the hands of the Crimson Tide last night.

This was because the exceedingly comely young woman, Katherine Webb, is the paramour of Alabama's quarterback, Raymond Anthony "AJ" McCarron, Jr., and ESPN play-by-play announcer Brent Musburger couldn't contain himself. More...

I don't think anyone could have...

...foreseen the thumping Alabama just put on Notre Dame this evening!

The final score was 42-14, but it wasn't that close as the Crimson Tide rolled to a 28-0 halftime lead, upped to to 35-0 and pretty much coasted the rest of the way to win its second consecutive Bowl Championship Series title and the third one on the past four seasons.

It was glorious to see the previous undefeated Fighting Irish humbled that way. More...

Darkly poetic justice

A paparazzo was struck and killed by a car while attempting to cross four lanes of traffic after stopping to take pictures of pop star Justin Bieber's Ferrari when it was pulled over along a freeway in Los Angeles.

The vehicle which drew the deceased's attention may have been Bieber's, but the young singer was not on site. More...

Why are we not surprised?

Fresh from 27East:

Bellone Misses Deadline; Sex Offender Trailers Remain In Southampton Town

Steve Bellone

"Mr. Bellone—who held a press conference in the lobby of Southampton Town Hall last spring to announce that he was making the homeless sex offender issue a top priority...."

Once again, the Suffolk County Executive has demonstrated that he is all teeth and no bite, and guess what he's using as an excuse? More...

New Year's 1997

Follow-up news last year about Long Island Rail Road engineer Ronald Cabrera who was had been terminated for allowing a passenger to operate a rush-hour train, caused a flashback to 1997 and a thought:

"Didn't know LIRR took things like that so seriously!"

It was New Year's Eve and my only begotten son had secured a coveted All-Access pass for me to the Blues Traveler concert at Madison Square Garden. More...
